Southbound
We place experienced experts from the public and private sectors as voluntary guest lecturers at partner universities in Namibia, Zambia and South Africa. They deliver practice-oriented lectures and workshops in economically and socially relevant fields of study. This primarily benefits students, faculty leaders and lecturers. Depending on the subject, we also address young entrepreneurs and business representatives.
Volunteer profile
University or Fachhochschule degree or vocational training degree with additional specialization. Significant work experience including management and/or training/lecturing experience. Proficient knowledge of English, interest in different countries and cultures, flexibility, improvisation skills and an open mind are a prerequisite.
Subjects
Occupational health and safety, business administration, e-learning, electrical engineering, civil engineering, human resources, journalism, SME development, communication, food safety, logistics, marketing, mechanical engineering, media technology, accounting, risk management, economics. Additional disciplines are continually being added to meet specific local requirements.
Time frame
On average, assignments last two to three weeks. The assignment format and workload varies and is tailor-made and discussed in detail prior to departure.
Accommodation
In Namibia the school arranges for self-catering flats on campus, in Zambia and South Africa hotel accommodation near the campus is available.
Costs
Assignments are done on a volunteer basis, i.e. no salary or consultancy fee is paid. Health and Accident Insurance have to be covered by the volunteers.
